Reading Incentive Programs
Saint Paul the Apostle School participates in a number of reading incentive programs to help instill a love of reading in our students. We presently offer the following programs to our students.
Texas Bluebonnet Award: This reading program is geared towards 3rd-6th graders. Students must read five of the books listed on the 2011-12 Bluebonnet Master List and submit a book review to the library in order to cast their vote on January 20, 2012 for the winner. Second grade may also participate on a school level. The list of titles can be found at: http://www.txla.org/TBA-nominees.
Read to Succeed Six Flags Reading Program: Participants in grades K-6 are required to read and document six (6) hours of recreational reading, not “for school” reading, beginning in November, in order to qualify for a free ticket to Six Flags. Reading must be completed and signed reading logs turned in by February 17, 2012.
Braum’s Book Buddy Reading Program: Students in grades 1-5 earn up to six Braum’s treats throughout the year. Students receive a Book Buddy sticker for each book read and when they have read six books they receive a coupon for a treat. Coupons must be used before the end of June 2012.
Pizza Hut Book It!: This reading incentive program runs from October through March and is open to students in grades K-6. Teachers set reading goals for their students and as soon as a child meets the monthly reading goal they receive a certificate for a one topping Personal Pan Pizza.
